Roxane Gay, writer for Black Panther: World of Wakanda, to speak at geekOUTucr

Roxane Gay

Roxane Gay, writer for the Marvel series Black Panther: World of Wakanda, will speak at geekOUTucr, a free queer comic-con on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the University of California, Riverside. ASL interpretation is provided. On the opening weekend for the Black Panther film, delve into the comic book backstory and the love between Ayo and Aneka.

"Writer ROXANE GAY (Bad Feminst, Hunger) spins a Wakandan love story - its tenderness matched only by its brutality. You know them now as The Midnight Angels, but in this story they are just Ayo and Aneka, young women recruited to become Dora Milaje, an elite task force trained to protect the crown at all costs... What happens when your nation needs your hearts and minds, but you already gave them to each other?" - Marvel.com
Roxane Gay's talk at geekOUTucr will focus on Black Panther: World of Wakanda. She will also speak later in the evening at 7pm @ the UCR University Theatre. Both events are free and open to all.
